Mat Pilates Teacher Training

Our Mat Training blends practicum hours with over 80 classroom hours, guided by a skilled faculty bringing more than 50 years of combined teaching experience. Spread over several months, the program gives you the space to learn, practice, and truly integrate your skills.

We recognize that every body and every mind learns differently. That’s why we use a variety of methods and resources to support different learning styles—within a community that values encouragement, curiosity, and growth.

While there’s a structured framework, the heart of this training is exploration. We invite questions, spark discussion, and believe that meaningful learning happens in dialogue—with yourself, your peers, and your mentors. At Muse Lisboa, there are no wrong questions, only opportunities to deepen your understanding and your teaching practice.

How to Apply for Mat Pilates Teacher Training

We’re so glad you’re considering starting your teacher training journey with us! Here’s how to get started:

1. Read the training details carefully.
Take your time to go through all of the program information. Make sure the schedule works for you and that you have the time and energy to commit — this is an exciting and transformative experience, and we want you to feel fully ready for it.

2. Submit your application.
Once you’ve reviewed the details, complete your application form. This is where you’ll tell us a little about yourself, your Pilates background, and what’s inspiring you to take this next step.

3. Book your applicant call.
Once you have submitted your application (and only then) book your call with our support team.  This is a chance to ask questions, get clarity on the training, and make sure it’s the right fit for you. Please treat this call as you would a professional appointment: come prepared, and let us know if you need to reschedule. Only serious applicants please.

Requirements

  • A regular Mat Pilates practice is recommended before beginning the program, so you feel comfortable with the foundations.

  • No prior teaching experience is required. This training is open to anyone — whether you want to teach or simply deepen your own practice.

  • You do not need to be “good at Pilates” or have perfect form. We believe those ideas are myths that get in the way of learning. What matters most is a sparked interest in the practice and a willingness to show up, learn, and stay curious about your body.

We recognize the many forms of marginalization and oppression that exists in the world that impact a broad spectrum of people. Our scholarship seeks to facilitate access and representation for racialized people, who have been historically underrepresented at our studio, as well as within the Pilates industry

    Additional Costs:

    • Exams are an additional cost of €150 and can be scheduled with a faculty member when you are ready.

    • Scholarship applicant exams are €100

    • Essential Anatomy App (approx €25)

  • Scholarships

We recognize that many forms of marginalization and oppression affect people worldwide, including within the Pilates and boutique fitness industry. Our scholarship is designed to increase access and representation for racialized people, who have historically been underrepresented in these spaces.

We also acknowledge that salaries in Portugal are often not comparable to those of many foreigners and digital nomads living here, which can make the cost of Pilates training feel out of reach. In an effort to create equity and access - if we receive enough applications- we may be able to offer sliding scale pricing.

If you’d like to be considered for this, please let us know in your application and bring it up during your call with the teacher training co-ordinator.

  • Miniumum 6 Participants

    Max 18 participants

    • This is a complicated topic with a lot to consider and a lot of nuance. You will never get to do your first trianing again so we suggest that the main question you should be asking is : “which schools are aligned the most with the kind of teacher I want to be? Where are from whome do I want to learn from ?”
